Arshdeep Singh, a Punjab Kings (PBKS) bowler, administered the breaks to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) score during the close of their innings in IPL 2024 Match 23 played in Mulanpur on Tuesday, April 9.

Both Nitish Kumar Reddy and Abdul Samad were well prepared, having earlier contributed 50 runs for the sixth wicket. With only four overs remaining, they appeared to be on fire, and Arshdeep Singh struck twice in quick succession.

Arshdeep Singh attempted a wide yorker, which Samad attempted to place over the covers. However, he could only obtain an outside edge since the ball went directly down the throat of the fielder at deep third.

Nitish Kumar Reddy then attempted to hit a low full toss over long off but was unable to clear the defender because he did not middle the ball. Arshdeep Singh was pleased, as were the Punjab fielders, to have two fresh hitters at the crease.

Here is a video of both dismissals:

The Sunrisers appeared to be on track for a 200-plus score when Samad and Nitish went all out. However, the PBKS fightback, lead by Arshdeep Singh, limited the number of visitors to 182.

PBKS encounter a familiar challenge, mirroring their clash with Gujarat Titans (GT), as they struggle to establish a solid foundation for their pursuit.

Opener Shikhar Dhawan (14) failed to capitalize, while Jonny Bairstow (0) and Prabhsimran Singh (4) couldn’t ignite their innings, handing the Sunrisers a commanding advantage. Currently, Sikandar Raza and Shashank Singh strive to construct a crucial partnership, with 92 runs required from the remaining seven overs.

Shashank Singh is coming off a heroic performance and will need some help to carry his squad across the finish line again.
