Arshdeep’s excellent final over bowling assured a 13-run victory for Punjab Kings against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday in the Indian Premier League 2023. The PBKS left-arm pacer, Arshdeep, wanted to dispel any hint that he was feeling the pressure after he was asked to defend 16 runs in the last over of a game that saw 415 runs scored collectively by both teams.

Aiming for yorker-length deliveries was Arshdeep Singh’s go-to plan for sure, except that the margin for error is coming down by the day in the T20 cricket. Off his first delivery, the 24-year-old had captured Ishan Kishan’s wicket. Before Arshdeep Singh came on to bowl the 18th over of the innings with 40 runs to defend, mighty Suryakumar Yadav was playing, and he was on a rampage. He had seen his skipper Sam Curran missing his lengths in the 17th over of the innings to be ramped and flicked for boundaries.

In the 18th over of the innings, he sent back Suryakumar Yadav, who he believes would have finished the game an over ago had he not dismissed him. In his last act at the Wankhede, Arshdeep was up against a proven finisher in Tim David, who’d just lodged a 114m six off Nathan Ellis and MI’s top scorer of the season, Tilak Verma.

Arshdeep Singh’s amazing death bowling against MI

While defending the 16 runs in the last over, Arshdeep Singh gave away only two runs & picked up the wickets of Tilak and Nehal, breaking their middle stumps in the process. The Punjab pacer could have crumbled to the last over pressure, but he did not. That is why he is way different from most bowlers currently on the Indian team’s radar, and that is why he has the potential to be a genuine T20 superstar.

In IPL 2023, he climbed to the top of the wicket-takers list. He is the Purple Cap holder currently for being the most wickets taker in the season so far. He has taken 13 wickets in seven matches and has an average of 15.69 and an economy rate of 8.16. His best bowling figures are 4/29.
