AB de Villiers, the famed ex-batter from South Africa, is saddened by India and South Africa playing only two Tests in their last series. The Proteas had India over for just two Tests, concluding with a draw at 1-1.

AB de Villiers recognized the significance of Cricket South Africa’s desire to assure the SA20 league’s financial success. However, he feels that specific efforts are required to protect Test cricket.

Here’s what AB de Villiers had to say about the two-match Test series in a video on his YouTube channel:

“I am not happy with the fact that there’s not a third Test. You have to blame the T20 cricket going around the world for that. I don’t know exactly whom to blame but I definitely sense something is wrong. If you want to see all the teams compete and see who is the best Test team in the world, something has to change.”

India and South Africa’s second Test in Cape Town sparked a lot of questions. Why? The game finished in less than two days! This has never happened before. It became the briefest Test ever – based on the number of overs bowled.

AB de Villiers, on the other hand, was not startled by the pitch because he believes it becomes easier to bat after properly navigating that first session. In response, he stated:

“It (Cape Town) was a pretty stock-standard wicket in my opinion. I remember jumping around there on Day 1. If you can just get through the first session on Day 1, it gets easier. If you see the players who were playing their shots and not hanging around, they were the ones doing well.

AB de Villiers Added:

“I remember Ben Stokes scoring a double hundred there. I myself scored some hundreds there. You can’t allow bowlers like Philander, Bumrah, Siraj, Rabada to keep bowling on off-stump.”

Aiden Markram’s spectacular century in Cape Town epitomized the offensive batting that AB de Villiers was referring to. The extreme bounce from a respectable length, on the other hand, stunned most spectators, including the home team’s captain, Dean Elgar. He stated that he had never seen such a wicket at that location previously.
