Aakash Chopra has suggested that the ICC should change the WTC Final format from a one-off battle to a three-match series. He suggests that all three matches be played, with one being hosted at home, one at the opponent’s home, and another at a neutral venue. He also questions why the ICC has chosen England as the host of the championship’s finals twice in a row and believes the pitch conditions are unsuitable for Asian teams.

Why WTC Finals happen only in England? The neutral venue, but it mirrors non-asian conditions

“Why does it have only one game? Why not have a Test series to determine the World Test Champion? Why not have one test each at home and one at a neutral venue? Ambitious… Yes, of course,” Aakash Chopra added in the tweet.

Some cricket supporters said on Twitter that it would be challenging for cricket boards to have a 20-25 day period without fixtures to accommodate a three-match series.

Aakash Chopra commented that Test cricket is exceptional compared to other sports and believes the WTC final should be a three-match series rather than just one game based on its distinctiveness.

No tournament lasts two years to find its winner. So, please don’t throw ‘Final should be one knockout game’ in my direction. Test cricket is a very unique sport… lasts five days. The championship lasts two years. Finals can surely be a 3-match series

Virat Kohli, the former captain of India, suggested that the WTC Finals should be extended to a three-match series after the first edition ended. Nonetheless, the ICC still needs to alter the timetable for the final match.
