On April 24th, Delhi Capitals took on SunRisers Hyderabad in an IPL clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The match featured many former SRH players in the DC squad. Both teams were looking to turn their fortunes around after a disappointing start to the season, with DC ultimately emerging victorious by 7 runs.

Here, we look at 5 players who once played for the SunRisers Hyderabad:

1) David Warner

David Warner, who played for SRH from 2014 to 2021, is the third-highest run-getter in the competition’s history. He served as SRH’s captain during two spells – from 2014 to 2018 and 2020 to midway through the 2021 season. Warner has won the Orange Cap three times while representing SRH (in 2015, 2017 and 2019), making him the batter with the most Orange Cap wins in IPL history.

2) Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey was picked by SRH in the 2018 auction for ₹11 crores and played for the franchise for four seasons from 2018 to 2021. During his time with SRH, he scored 1345 runs in 51 matches at an average of 26.37. After leaving SRH, Pandey joined the Lucknow Super Giants before moving to DC ahead of the 2023 season.

3) Mustafizur Rahman

In 2016, Mustafizur Rahman was picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad and played a key role in their title-winning run by taking 17 wickets in 16 matches. He became the first overseas player to win the ‘Emerging Player of the Tournament Award.’ Rahman was retained by SRH for the 2017 season but was released before the 2018 season.

4) Mitchell Marsh

SRH picked Mitchell Marsh before the 2020 IPL season. However, he was ruled out for the season after injuring his ankle while bowling his first over in SRH’s opening game against RCB. Despite the injury, he came in to bat at No. 10 but was dismissed for a golden duck. Marsh eventually pulled out of the 2021 IPL season, ending his stint with SRH.

5) Khaleel Ahmed

Khaleel Ahmed played for SRH from 2018 to 2021 and took 32 wickets in 24 matches for the team. He was released by SRH in 2021 and has since played for the Capitals.
