India’s team triumphed over Australia with a 44-run win at Greenfield International Stadium’s second T20I. This Sunday event on November 26 increased their five-match series lead to 2-0.
After being selected to bat first, India amassed a massive 235/4 in 20 overs. Top-order batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Ishan Kishan hit half-centuries to set the groundwork. Rinku Singh, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma made cameo appearances to round up the innings.
Australia’s reply was just 191/9 in 20 overs. The visitors got off to a shaky start in the uphill chase, falling to 58/4 after 7.2 overs. Tim David (37) and Marcus Stoinis (45) then came on strong to get their team back on track.
They couldn’t convert their starts, however, and lost in consecutive overs after putting up 81 runs. Australia then went off the rails and finally lost the match.

Suryakumar Yadav, Team India’s captain, remarked on the victory during the post-match presentation, saying:
“The boys are not putting too much pressure on me. Taking that onus, taking that responsibility. I think I only told them before the toss to be prepared to bat first. When we came here for practise, the game started at 7 and there was a lot of dew after 3 overs.”

Surya also lauded Rinku Singh’s superb hitting in the death overs, saying:
“When I saw him (Rinku Singh) in the last game, the composure he showed, it was brilliant. Today also, asked to bat in the last two overs, he was brilliant.”

The third T20I of the series will be played on Tuesday (November 28) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
