Dhanashree Verma, the wife of Yuzvendra Chahal, Team India’s senior leg spinner, was one of the wildcard competitors on the Indian dance reality television program Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.
Chahal supported his better half throughout her trip, asking his supporters to vote for her. Dhanashree garnered widespread praise for her excellent dancing performances and even finished in the top five.
The finale is planned to air on March 2 and 3. However, according to The Times of India, actress Manisha Rani has won the honor. While Dhanashree did not win the event, Chahal left a heartfelt statement praising his wife’s efforts.
The cricketer posted in his recent Instagram story:
It’s interesting to note that during India’s COVID-19 lockdown, Yuzvendra Chahal decided to take online dance classes. His teacher was a choreographer named Dhanashree Verma. As they spent time together, a bond formed. The result? They got married in December 2020.
Aakash Chopra expresses his shock over Yuzvendra Chahal’s omission from BCCI’s central contracts
Yuzvendra Chahal has long been regarded as India’s best white-ball spinner. However, a form dip, followed by the resurgence of left-arm wristspinner Kuldeep Yadav, has pushed him down the pecking order.
Chahal has recently played rarely for India and was also left out of the 2023 ODI World Cup roster. The 33-year-old was not even listed in any of the categories in the BCCI’s new central contracts.
Reacting to Chahal’s exclusion from the list, former India opener Aakash Chopra stated that recent developments suggest that the clever spinner may no longer be in the selectors’ plans.
The cricketer-turned-commentator stated in his YouTube video:
Aakash Chopra added:
In 2024, we’ll see Yuzvendra Chahal playing again. He’ll be in the Indian Premier League (IPL). His team? The Rajasthan Royals (RR). He’ll continue to play for them.
