A stellar display by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) reÂsulted in a significant breakthrough by dismissing Rajasthan Royals (RR) openeÂr Yashasvi Jaiswal during the IPL 2024 Eliminator in Ahmedabad on WedneÂsday May 22. The southpaw seemingly grappling with his timing peÂrished after scoring 45 runs off 30 deliveÂries.
Yashasvi Jaiswal got down on one knee and attempted to scoop a ball from Cameron Green behind fine leg. However, he only managed to get a glove on it, and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik took a routine catch.
While the on-field umpire had not ruled Yaashasvi Jaiswal out, RCB was confident enough to seek a review. The Ultra Edge verified that there was a spike since the ball was beside the glove, and Bengaluru made the breakthrough they needed.
Here’s the video of the dismissal:
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s body language as the fielding side went for the review indicated that he was in danger.
RCB come roaring back into the game with back-to-back big strikes
While Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal were at the crease, it appeared that RR would breeze to the total. This is especially true given the dew effect, which had been hampering the fielding side.
However, the Royals would be guilty of allowing the Royal Challengers back into the game with two easy dismissals. Captain Sanju Samson danced down the track and was stumped by a wide delivery in the over immediately after RR’s loss of Jaiswal.
Samson’s response, as well as those of those in the Royals bench, indicated that they were aware that the shot was unnecessary. In a knockout game, such conditions might lead to a batting collapse. The Royals would hope that Dhruv Jurel and Riyan Parag can develop a partnership to pull them out of difficulties.
Meanwhile, RCB must continue to select wickets in order to throw the opposition off guard.
