Bengaluru’s Royal Challengers, a cricket team, got a great start. Their all-rounder, Will Jacks, dismissed Hyderabad’s Travis Head. It was the first over of Hyderabad’s batting. This early breakthrough boosted Bengaluru’s confidence. They had set a huge target of 207 runs. Bengaluru was led by Faf du Plessis. The match took place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 25th.
Travis Head, who was in good form, came in as an impact sub during the run chase and was anticipated to fire alongside Abhishek Sharma against the faltering RCB bowling unit. However, the off-spinner kept things tight from the start against the left-handed hitters, allowing them no place to move their arms.
With only three runs from the first five deliveries, Travis Head lost patience and attempted a slog to finish the over. However, the slower delivery gripped the surface and made contact with the bat’s outer edge halfway through the attempted leg side heave.
The ball cut behind square on the off-side, where Karn Sharma caught it at short third man. Head had to go after scoring one run off three deliveries. View the dismissal right here:
Will Jacks’ success was limited to the first over, as he was dismissed by Abhishek Sharma in the second over. The all-rounder gave up 20 runs, with two sixes and a four providing SRH much-needed impetus after an early setback.
Travis Head Had Scored a Century Against RCB in the Previous Match at the Chinnaswamy
This season, the left-handed hitter has wreaked havoc since making his SRH debut against the Mumbai Indians (MI).
Head scored 102 runs off 41 deliveries in the previous season match between these two teams at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, when SRH posted the highest total (287/3) in the competition’s history. He smashed nine fours and eight sixes.
SRH are still going strong in the powerplay after losing both of their openers in the opening four overs. Aiden Markram and Nitish Reddy share the crease for the home side, which is 41-2 after 4.1 overs.
