India’s Cricket Board (BCCI) revealed their schedule for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday, February 22. The T20 league blast-off is with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defending their title against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The match is in Chennai on March 22.
Twin matches are on the first weekend. Punjab Kings (PBKS) are playing Delhi Capitals (DC) in Mohali on Saturday, March 23. The afternoon is the set time. The evening brings another match. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are battling SunRisers Hyderabad in Kolkata.
This Sunday, March 24, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) are playing at home. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are their opponents. They will play during the day in Jaipur. Later that evening, the Gujarat Titans (GT) face off against the Mumbai Indians (MI). The match is in Ahmedabad.
The schedule, however, was only released for the first 21 IPL 2024 matches, which will take place between March 22 and April 7. The entire schedule will be disclosed once the dates for the 2024 general elections are confirmed.
The delay in revealing the full schedule is intended to ensure that the event runs successfully in India, despite the fact that elections are also taking place.
In an official press release revealing the IPL 2024 schedule for the first 21 matches, BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated:
The first two weeks’ program includes 21 matches spread across ten locations. Each of the ten franchises will play at least three and no more than five matches.
Delhi Capitals will play their first two home matches of IPL 2024 in Visakhapatnam
Surprisingly, Delhi Capitals have their initial two IPL 2024 home games in Visakhapatnam. On March 31, DC hosts Chennai Super Kings in this city. Their subsequent match, also here, against Kolkata Knight Riders is on April 3.
As previously stated, DC will face Punjab Kings in Mohali on March 23. They will also face the Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur on March 28 and the Mumbai Indians in Mumbai on April 7.
