Virat Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru opener, fumed at umpires! He got declared out versus Kolkata Knight Riders. This IPL 2024 match occurred at Eden Gardens on April 21st, Sunday.
Virat Kohli missed that easy delivery. He played the ball, which went straight into the bowler’s hands. The batter was dismissed after a full-toss from Harshit Rana. Kolkata Knight Riders scored 222 runs batting first. Rana intended to bowl slowly, but it was a high full toss instead.
Deceived by the lack of pace, the opening batter attempted to make contact with the outside edge. Rana claimed the catch after completing his follow-through, although there was much debate over the legitimacy of the delivery and the dismissal in general.
Virat Kohli quickly appealed the decision. It was a no-ball call, so it became an umpire’s review. The new no-ball review system uses the ball’s projected path compared to the batter’s waist height. Michael Gough, the third umpire, applied this system.
Another key point to consider is that Virat Kohli was standing well beyond his crease. As a consequence, while his touch with the ball was longer than waist length, it would not have been had he remained in his crease, which determines whether a delivery is a no-ball or not.

Virat Kohli was furious with the third umpire’s decision and pressed his case to the on-field umpires, alongside RCB captain Faf du Plessis. The former captain went away, realizing he was fighting a hopeless battle, but he remained upset.
On his way back to the pavilion, Kohli took a little detour to express his dissatisfaction with the on-field umpires by getting in their faces.
The first batter seemed in terrific shape and might have increased his advantage in the Orange Cap race. He left after scoring 18 runs in seven deliveries.

Virat Kohli has previously disagreed with DRS, notably on LBW calls. One such incident was his LBW dismissal of Ajaz Patel in the Wankhede Test in 2021.
Kohli chose to have a review after being declared LBW. Replays revealed an extremely close call, and there was no way to tell whether the ball made contact with the bat or the pad first.
Citing a lack of compelling evidence, third umpire Nitin Menon ordered on-field umpire Anil Chaudhary to stick with his initial judgment, thereby ending Kohli’s time at the crease.
