Following the match, Virat Kohli revealed that RCB were playing for their own self-esteem after a dismal start to the season. Reflecting on the victory, Kohli stated:

“We wanted to step up for ourselves, play for self respect, we can’t carry in a big tournament like we did in the first half. It’s just about going out there and playing the cricket we want to, if you see with the ball, we’re attacking the game more now, the bowlers are being more courageous, fielders are putting the body on the line, that’s the way we wanted to play our cricket.”

Regarding the rumors regarding his strike rate and his struggles against spinners, Kohli added:

“All the people who talk about strike rates, me not playing spin well, are the one’s who love talking about this stuff but for me, it’s all about winning the game for the team, and the reason why you do it for fifteen years, done it day in and day out.

“If you’re not in that situation yourself to sit and speak about them in the box, I don’t think it’s the same thing, for me it’s about doing things, people can talk about their assumptions.”
