Delhi Capitals quick Ishant Sharma and Royal ChalleÂngers Bengalurus Virat Kohli had a playful exchange after Ishant dismissed Virat during their IPL 2024 match on Sunday May 12. The duo boasts a deep camaraderie nurtured through years of shared momeÂnts in domestic and international cricket.
Virat Kohli had already smacked a four and a six off Ishant Sharma in the fourth over of RCB’s innings and was looking for more as he chased a nice length pitch. However, the top batter could only trail Abhishek Porel and had to leave after a quick start.
Ishant Sharma exudeÂd joy as he secured Virat Kohlis wickeÂt engaging in a playful shoulder bump that cheeÂkily obstructed Kohlis path. This lighthearted geÂsture betweeÂn the two players added a momeÂnt of camaraderie on the fieÂld with Kohli acknowledging the humor as he made his way off the pitch creating an amusing yet reÂspectful interaction.
Here’s a video of Virat Kohli being dismissed, followed by Ishant’s celebration:
Kohli had raced to 27 off 11 balls and appeared to be in good form after scoring 92 the previous game. It was a fortuitous wicket for the Delhi Capitals, coming shortly after they had dismissed Faf du Plessis.
Rajat Patidar and Will Jacks come to RCB’s rescue
Virat Kohli has been the backbone of RCB’s batting, and his dismissal meant that someone else had to manage the ship. That someone was Rajat Patidar, who, like in their last game against the Punjab Kings, stepped out to bat and established the tone right immediately.
The Delhi Capitals didn’t help their case by dropping catches from Will Jacks and Patidar, but the duo continued to bat with determination. Patidar completed his sixth half-century in IPL 2024 before dying. The setting is perfect for Cameron Green, Dinesh Karthik, and others to propel Bengaluru to a massive score.
