During the IPL 2024 match on April 12, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant faced an unusual incident. He lost his bat before being stumped out by Lucknow Super Giants. This occurred when DC was batting, pursuing the target score.
Rishabh Pant had delivered a stunning innings of 41 runs off 24 balls, steering his team towards victory. Eager to expedite the win, he maintained an aggressive approach. In the 16th over’s third delivery, bowled by leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, Pant charged out of the crease. His intent was to launch the ball beyond the boundary ropes.

Missing the ball, Rishabh Pant lost bat control. KL Rahul gathered the ball effortlessly, completing an uncomplicated stumping dismissal.

LSG batted first after winning the toss and scored a respectable 167/7 in 20 overs. The hosts’ top batting performers were Ayush Badoni (55*) and KL Rahul (39).
DC’s top batters, Jake Fraser-McGurk (55 runs), Prithvi Shaw (32 runs), and Rishabh Pant (41 runs) batted nicely. They got their team off to a good start in the chase. However, they were dismissed before reaching the target. Later, Tristan Stubbs (15 not out) and Shai Hope (11 not out) hit some quick runs. Their small but useful knocks helped DC cross the finish line.
At the post-match presentation, Rishabh Pant reminisced on the victory, saying:
“I think it was a little relief as we wanted a win badly. We wanted to think like champions. Things don’t always go your way but you have to keep fighting hard. There have been phases where we haven’t been up to the mark as a bowling group and some individuals have to step up.”

Rishabh Pant continued:
“At the same time, something’s you can control and some things you can’t. I think mostly it’s close together but with some many injuries it’s difficult to get backup players but we won’t be making excuses. I think most probably, I haven’t thought about it. Taking one match at a time.”
