Ex-South Africa speedster, Makhaya Ntini, just hummed the famous Bollywood melody ‘Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein’. Beside him was Indian cricket player, Ravichandran Ashwin.
Ntini’s clip, apparently recorded amidst the two-game Test feud between India and South Africa ending even at 1-1, sparked a buzz on platform X.
As Ntini’sang’ the hit tune, Ravichandran Ashwin hid his face with his hands.

Sahir Ludhianvi wrote the original song. Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar, famous singers, lent their voices to it.
Nitini has a noteworthy cricket history. He played 101 Tests, 173 ODIs, and 10 T20Is representing the Proteas.
Notably, he grabbed 662 international wickets across formats. 62 of them were against India.
In the very first season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), he was part of the team Chennai Super Kings (CSK). More recently, now 46, he shared his cricket insights during the India’s latest South Africa tour as a commentator.
Ravichandran Ashwin in contention for ICC Test Cricketer of the Year 2023 award
ICC’s Men’s Test Cricket of the Year 2023 nominee is Ravichandran Ashwin. He is in the running with Travis Head from Australia, Usman Khawaja and England’s Joe Root.
Stats show, Ravichandran Ashwin claimed 41 outs in seven test match games during 2023. Particularly outstanding was the Border-Gavaskar Trophy where he claimed 25 outs in only four games – earning him Player of the Series. Quite remarkably, this lead India to a series victory of 2-1.
In hitting, Ravichandran Ashwin added 150 runs to his team’s total over eight turns. His most noticeable innings was a half-century against West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval. Though, he didn’t perform well in the first match against South Africa, grabbing only one out and having two poor batting performances of eight runs and a zero.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s next move is a five-round home Test series against England. The first match is on January 25, at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
At 37, Ashwin is 10 wickets shy of reaching 500 in Test matches. Only one person, ex-India Captain Anil Kumble, has captured more wickets in Test Matches for India, with 619.
