In 2023, Mohammed Shami twisted his ankle during the World Cup. This sidelined him for the recent two-Test showdown with South Africa. In his conversation with The Times of India, he shared encouraging news about his health. He’s hoping to return for the pending Test series with England on home ground.

What he stated was this:

“My rehabilitation is well on track and the medical experts at NCA are happy with my progress. There is slight stiffness in my ankle but that’s fine. I have started my training sessions and I believe I will be able to make a comeback in the England series.”

Shami also gave India credit for winning the Cape Town Test, which marked a spectacular series comeback. He declared:

“Everyone contributed and our bowling effort was brilliant. It was a brilliant comeback by India to level the series. Unfortunately I missed it because of injury but I want to get back to competitive cricket as soon as possible. Hopefully you can see me back in action against England.”

If Shami takes longer to heal, India would be hoping that, like they did in Cape Town, players like Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar fill in for him during the Test match against England.
