KL Rahul, the captain of LSG, won the coin toss and asked the other team to bat first. MI’s top batters had a bad start and lost many wickets early. They were struggling at 27/4 in 5.2 overs. Good Indian players like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Hardik Pandya were out quickly.

Ishan Kishan (32) and Nehal Wadhera (46) put on a 53-run partnership for the fifth wicket. They hit the ball well and set a good platform. Tim David used this good start and scored many runs. MI got a decent total of 144 in the end. At the break, Nehal Wadhera talked about the first innings:

“It’s a good total, we could’ve gotten more if I had been there longer, but it’s a good score considering the start we got and the bowlers are pumped up to restrict. I don’t think of milestones, I just want our team to win. Happy that I could chip in with 46 runs.”
