Sunrisers Hyderabads (SRH) CEO Kavya Maran found herself overwhelmed with emotion shedding tears as her team faced defeat in the IPL 2024 final against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday May 26. Despite a valiant effort from all departments Kolkata Knight Riders emerged victorious with an eightwicket triumph at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
KKR completely dictated the games tempo from the beginning till the end showcasing their dominance right from the onset. Andre Russell (3/19) Harshit Rana (2/24) and Mitchell Starc (2/14) took the center stage with the ball restricting SRH to 113 runs in the opening innings. Venkatesh Iyer (52*) then blazed through a spectacular halfcentury guiding KKR to a comfortable victory in just 10.3 overs.
In the stands Kavya Maran’s heart sank with disappointment as SRHs journey came to a bitter end following a remarkable showing in the league phase.
