Faf du Plessis skipper of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) found himself in a state of utter disbelief after the match officials declared him run out at the nonstrikers end in the IPL 2024 clash against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday May 18. His departure followed a commendable innings of 54 runs from 39 deliveries.
Faf du Plessis was astonished when he was declared out because he believed he had portion of his bat grounded. Here is a video of the dismissal.
The RCB dressing room was not a happy one when Du Plessis was dismissed, and Virat Kohli’s unhappiness was obvious as well.
Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green Stabilize RCB Innings After Faf du Plessis’ Dismissal
The Royal Challengers lost Virat Kohli’s wicket for 47. Just as it appeared that Rajat Patidar and Faf du Plessis would swap gears, the hosts lost their captain as well. Cameron Green, on the other hand, went out at No. 4 and got right to work, allowing Patidar to increase the ante from the other end.
The duo contributed 71 runs in just 28 balls for the third wicket, which helped RCB reach 200 runs. Maxwell’s excellent 16*(5) helped RCB set a massive goal of 219 for the Men in Yellow.
However, Chennai must score 201 to ensure that even if they lose, they have a higher net run rate than RCB and hence qualify for the playoffs.
