Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik delighted spectators with his amazing batting prowess during the chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). It happened in their IPL 2024 match on Monday (April 16) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In the 18th over, Dinesh Karthik hit a spectacular six against SRH’s veteran bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Facing a full-length delivery outside off-stump, Dinesh Karthik changed his grip, then effortlessly lofted the ball over point for six runs. Dinesh Karthik stroke-making was simply breathtaking.

Sunrisers Hyderabad went in to bat first. They put up an incredible score of 287 runs. This came at the loss of just 3 wickets in their 20 over innings. Opener Travis Head shone brightly, smashing a spectacular 102 off 39 deliveries. His sensational century stole the limelight. Heinrich Klaasen chipped in with 67 valuable runs. Abhishek Sharma (34) and Aiden Markram (32*) played handy knocks. Abdul Samad’s unbeaten 37 lent finishing fireworks, propelling the total skyward.
Royal Challengers Bangalore began the chase strongly, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis adding 80 in 6.2 overs. However, Kohli’s dismissal for 42 (20 balls) triggered a collapse. Du Plessis departed after a battling 62, RCB reeling at 122/5 halfway through.
Dinesh Karthik delivered a magnificent innings, blasting the SRH bowlers all over the park on his way to 83 (35). However, it was insufficient, as the goal proved simply too difficult for a one-man show.
