David Warners swift departure marred his comeback game for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. The lefthanders innings was shortlived as he was caught at longon after just two balls managing to score a mere single run. The 37yearold veteran returned to the team as an impact substitute in the absence of skipper Rishabh Pant who was serving a ban for this match.
The expulsion occurred during the first over of the Capitals’ run chase. Swapnil Singh delivered a full-length ball on the off-stump, and David Warner leaned in to attempt the slog-sweep. He struck the ball rather well, but too straight. Will Jacks went to his left from long-on and easily grabbed it inside the ropes.
