Chennai Super Kings (CSK) supporters gathered to the streets of Bangalore on Monday, May 29, to celebrate MS Dhoni and Co.’s fifth IPL championship. CSK defeated the Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets in a last-ball drama at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad using the DLS system.
CSK demonstrated remarkable control and tactical ability to consistently stay ahead of the needed run rate while chasing a massive 171 in 15 overs for the win. They finally won because of a final ball boundary.
After the game, there were wild celebrations from CSK fans in numerous places, with the majority screaming MS Dhoni’s name.

The Chennai Super Kings have now tied the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) record of five IPL titles.
CSK has also qualified for the playoffs an incredible 12 times in their 14-year existence and has reached the final 10 times.
After a two-year break, Chennai has made a victorious return, winning three trophies in the last six years.

Devon Conway, the opening batter for the Chennai Super Kings, spoke about the nerve-racking wait during the extended rain delay before the amazing run chase in the grand finale.
CSK’s run chase, which was chasing 215 for the win, was interrupted by rain after only three deliveries. It was resumed some hours later, with them requiring 171 off 15 overs in a shortened game.
Conway led the Super Kings at the restart, scoring 47 off 25 deliveries. He and Ruturaj Gaikwad put on a spectacular opening partnership of 74 off 39 balls.
Conway expressed his delight after winning his first IPL title after the game.
Conway had an outstanding season, scoring 672 runs with a strike rate of 139.71 and an average of 51.69.
Since joining Chennai last season, the Kiwi batter has amassed over 900 runs in 23 games, including nine half-centuries and a best score of 92* against Punjab Kings.
