Rishabh Pant, Team India’s ace keeper-batsman, is scheduled to make his long-awaited cricket return in the current Indian Premier League season (IPL 2024).
Rishabh Pant was out of action for about a year and a half after suffering serious injuries in a horrific vehicle accident in December 2022. He was ruled out of the IPL 2023 and missed numerous crucial international competitions, including the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Rishabh Pant’s admirers are overjoyed since the National Cricket Academy (NCA) has granted him permission to rejoin. The 26-year-old will captain the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024.
To respond to Pant’s comeback, veteran Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer uploaded a clip from the film ‘Nayak: The Real Hero’, starring Anil Kapoor.
Jaffer wrote on the microblogging site X (previously Twitter):
The last season wasn’t great for Delhi. David Warner, an old Australian player, led the team with Pant out. Though, things didn’t go well at all. Delhi finished very low on the table with just 5 victories from 14 games. It was quite disappointing for them without doing much.
“He bats too much and I have to drag him out of nets” – DC head coach Ricky Ponting on Rishabh Pant
Delhi head coach Ricky Ponting recently revealed that Rishabh Pant is eager to make his comeback and is fully prepared for the IPL 2024. He also mentioned that the southpaw occasionally hits for an extended stretch of time in the nets.
Ricky Ponting stated that Pant has been hitting and keeping well during practice sessions. Speaking before of DC’s first match, the cricketer-turned-coach stated:
On Saturday, March 23, Delhi will face the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in an afternoon battle at Mullanpur in Chandigarh.
