Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian batter, used a well-known scene from the highly anticipated film Baahubali to explain MS Dhoni’s role in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team following his resignation as captain.
Unexpectedly, on Thursday, March 21, Ruturaj Gaikwad participated in the captain’s picture for CSK. Gaikwad was subsequently named the new captain of the Chennai Super Kings, according to the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) official X account. CSK issued an official statement to confirm the adjustment as well.
Wasim Jaffer, famous for humorous social media posts, used X to express views on major Chennai Super Kings news. He shared an iconic Baahubali clip where Prabhas leaves his role but keeps working to help people.
Jaffer captioned the video when he posted it:
In the 2023 season, the Chennai Super Kings achieved an unprecedented record-tying fifth IPL victory under MS Dhoni’s leadership. In relation to Gaikwad, he had a significant role in CSK’s victories in the 2021 and 2023 IPLs. After scoring 635 runs in 16 games at an average of 45.36 and a strike rate of 136.27, the opening hitter took home the Orange Cap in 2021.
He scored 590 runs in 16 games with a strike rate of 147.50 and an average of 42.14 last year. The 27-year-old has participated in 52 IPL games overall, amassing 1,797 runs at a 39.07 average, 135.52 strike rate, and 14 hundreds.
“We are well prepared this time” – Stephen Fleming on MS Dhoni’s Captaincy Exit
MS Dhoni relinquished the CSK captaincy for the second instance within three years. In 2022, he had transferred leadership duties to seasoned all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. However, following Jadeja’s struggles, MS Dhoni reassumed captaincy midway through that season.
CSK’s head coach, Stephen Fleming, has affirmed their enhanced preparedness for this transition compared to 2022’s events. Fleming’s statement, as quoted by PTI news agency, reads:
On Friday, March 22, the Chennai Super Kings will play the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Chepauk to start their IPL 2024 campaign.
