Rajkumar Sharma is confident that India will be able to overcome the difficulty of not having won the ICC trophy yet, by winning the 2023 50-over World Cup, which is set to take place on their home turf in the coming year.
During a conversation on India News Sports, Sharma pointed out that Indian players enjoy playing ODI cricket. He suggested that the Indian team will have the upper hand due to the fact that the tournament will be held in India.
The 57-year-old praised Rohit Sharma and the rest of the team for their excellent performance, expressing their confidence in them to reach the top and be crowned champions, just like they did in 2011.
He mentioned that India has been playing well and people have high hopes for them to be successful in the World Cup, as it will be taking place in India and their 50-over format is suitable for their players. He is confident that India’s long run without an ICC trophy is going to finish this year. The team has been getting ready for the tournament and they are in excellent shape and morale is strong on the path to the World Cup.
It is noteworthy that India has an impressive record for ODI matches played at home. The team achieved consecutive sweeps in their three-match series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand in January.
The team has been the winner in all of the last seven One Day International (ODI) series played on home turf. It is noteworthy that India is currently the top-ranked team in the 50-over format.
