Indian batter Virat Kohli recently said that, aside from his family and personal coach, MS Dhoni was the only one person who reached out to him during his complex spell.
While appearing on the second season of the “RCB Podcast“, Virat Kohli said that getting in touch with Dhoni is complex, suggesting that he rarely checks his phone. But he added that the former India captain personally reached out to him twice, which was a big help during his batting slump.
The 34-year-old revealed that Dhoni had texted him, lamenting that people rarely ask him how he is doing because of his considerable reputation. As Kohli pointed out, hearing those remarks forced him to step back and put his health first.
“He reached out to me, & you can rarely get in touch with him,” the RCB captain mentioned. “If I call him any other day, 99% chance is he will not pick up because he just does not look at his phone.”
“So, it hit home for me as I have always been looked at as a very confident, mentally strong, and a person that can endure any situation circumstances and find a way and show us the way,” Following this, Kohli elaborated. “Sometimes, you realize that at any given point in life as a human, you need to take a couple of steps backwards, try to understand how you are doing, and how your well-being is placed.”
On multiple instances, Virat Kohli has expressed gratitude to MS Dhoni for standing by him in times of difficulty. As they spent so much time together in the Indian locker room, the two cricket stars became great friends.
