Virat Kohli shines with the bat on Day 1 of Cape Town Test
South Africa chose to bat first in the second, and last, Test of the current series. The Indian bowlers gave the hosts a tough time with their strong new ball spells on the difficult field.
South Africa’s batting order was destroyed by Mohammed Siraj, who claimed six wickets as the home team was bowled out for a pitiful 55. On the other side, after losing the final six wickets for only 0 runs, India was bowled out for 153.
At the bat, Kohli was India’s best player, scoring 46 runs off 59 deliveries. Additionally, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill made significant contributions of 39 and 36, respectively.
The first day ended with South Africa at 62/3 in their second inning, still 36 runs behind India. When Day 2 starts, Aiden Markram and David Bedingham, with scores of 36* and 7* respectively, will continue batting.
