Virat Kohli, Team India’s player, may miss out on the ongoing Test series versus England. The Indian Express has indicated that he advised BCCI and the selectors on February 9. He stated that he wouldn’t be joining them in the next three matches.
A respected player, Virat Kohli, called off participation in the initial two Tests. Personal reasons were his cited cause, and this seems to extend to the series’ later stages as well.
Upon Kohli’s withdraw from the early Tests, the BCCI offered full backing. Their official website conveyed the statement in his support as follows:
The hosts may feel the impact of Kohli’s potential absence harshly. His middle-order experience is priceless. His top form was undeniable in the Test series against South Africa, just about a month before.
India’s positive news amid Virat Kohli’s potential withdrawal from England series
Despite Virat Kohli’s absence, India may be able to rectify their batting experience deficit to some extent, as both KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have allegedly been certified fit for the third Test against England. The match will be played in Rajkot beginning February 15.
Rahul complained of soreness in his right quadriceps muscle, and Jadeja damaged his hamstring during the first Test in Hyderabad. The duo’s likely comeback would undoubtedly strengthen the batting line-up and provide skipper Rohit Sharma with a wicket-taking option in Jadeja.
Shreyas Iyer will allegedly miss the last three Tests owing to back and groin problems.
