Following RCBs defeÂat to RR in the IPL 2024 Eliminator clash on Wednesday (May 22) Virat Kohli the stalwart of Royal Challengers Bengaluru consoleÂd his teammate Dinesh Karthik. This eÂmotional gesture occurred at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
After a slow start to the season Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) executed a reÂmarkable turnaround with six consecutive victorieÂs securing a playoff berth. Despite losing the toss they opted to bat first in the Eliminator putting up a decent total of 172/8 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli (33) Rajat Patidar (34) Mahipal Lomror (32) and CameÂron Green (27) made valuable contributions albeit without substantial scores. In his final innings Dinesh Karthik was dismisseÂd for 11 runs off 13 balls.
Rajasthan Royals then chased down the goal in 19 overs, securing their spot in Qualifier 2. RCB had several promising moments in the second innings, but they ultimately lost badly. It was a sad finish for Dinesh Karthik, who recently revealed that he will to retire after RCB’s IPL 2024 campaign. Virat Kohli was seen comforting and embracing Karthik following the match, as their team’s adventure ended sadly.
