Virat Kohli, India’s star batsman, had to leave without scoring against England in their 2023 World Cup match in Lucknow on Sunday, October 29. Kohli was also removed for a duck for the first time in World Cups, and his first in ODIs since February 2022.
David Willey was getting the ball to move across with the angle and swinging back when needed, putting pressure on Kohli. The seasoned hitter even timed a ball well into the covers, but Dawid Malan fielded brilliantly to prevent what appeared to be a definite boundary.
That looked to add to Virat Kohli’s strain as he attempted to prance down the track and smash Willey over mid-off. However, because of the additional bounce, Kohli was only able to throw it into the palms of fielder Ben Stokes rather than clearing him. Willey was ecstatic, which was understandable considering the magnitude of the wicket.

Virat Kohli’s Wicket Leaves India in Need of a New fulcrum
With 354 runs from five innings entering the game against England, Kohli is undoubtedly India’s top batsman in the 2023 World Cup. So far, his campaign has been notable for the manner he has anchored the Men in Blue in their pursuits.
With Kohli out, the Men in Blue will need skipper Rohit Sharma and their lower order to fire and propel them to a battling total.
