RCBs shining star Virat Kohli stole the show with a spectacular throw from the deep to send Shashank Singh packing in the exciting faceoff against PBKS on May 9. Despite the uphill task of chasing down 242 runs for victory PBKS showcased grit reaching 1465 by the 13th over. Skipper Sam Curran tucked the 4th delivery of the 14th over to deep mid-wicket and looked for a double.
However, an athletic Virat Kohli was having none of it, charging in from the deep midwicket zone and firing a throw that hit the stumps directly in one motion, catching Shashank inches out of the crease at the non-striker’s end.
Here is a video of Virat Kohli’s fantastic fielding performance:
Shashank’s removal on 37 off 19 precipitated a collapse in which PBKS were bowled out for 181 in 17 overs, suffering a 60-run loss.
PBKS was officially eliminated from postseason contention after suffering their eighth defeat in 12 games. RCB’s big win keeps them in the competition with 10 points from 12 matches.
Virat Kohli’s brilliant 92 set up RCB’s win over PBKS
Before his outstanding fielding heroics, Virat Kohli delivered another batting masterpiece to enable RCB score a whopping 241/7 in 20 overs.
The 35-year-old scored his sixth 50-plus score of the IPL 2024 season, ending with 92 off 47 deliveries, seven boundaries, and six maximums. Virat Kohli presently holds the Orange Cap, with 634 runs at an average of over 70 and a strike rate of 153.51 in 12 games.

Virat Kohli has once again surpassed the 600 run milestone in his illustrious IPL career marking his fourth achievement in this regard. Notably he stands out as the very first batter to conquer the 1000 run mark against three teams namely CSK DC and PBKS.
The prominent batsman is poised to make a comeback on the battleground as RCB takes on Delhi Capitals (DC) in an intense doordie faceoff scheduled for Sunday May 12.
As for PBKS they eagerly anticipate demonstrating their pride in the upcoming confrontations with Rajasthan Royals (RR) and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH).
