At deep third man, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak took a brilliant catch to dismiss Rahul Tewatia in the 18th over of their match against Gujarat Titans (GT). However, on Saturday, May 4, the left-handed batsman played a valuable short innings at the M Chinnaswamy stadium and this helped GT have a decent total after an all-round poor performance in their batting.

Yash Dayal, bowling the penultimate over of his devastating stint, kept things tight and bowled Rashid Khan with a superb yorker. With only a few runs coming from the first four deliveries of the over, Tewatia hit a boundary off the final ball and went for another to finish the over.

Rahul Tewatia attempted a pull shot off the left-arm pacer’s short delivery, but he only managed to get the top edge. The ball sailed towards the third-man area. It was too fine compared to where Vijaykumar Vyshak was stationed, therefore he had to rush to his left. He covered a lot of territory and did so quickly enough to pull off a low dive and secure the catch.

Rahul Tewatia’s attendance till the final delivery was critical from GT’s perspective. Vyshak’s grab may have rescued RCB some important runs in the latter half. Tewatia scored 35 runs off 21 deliveries, including five fours and a six, for a strike rate of 166.67.
