Today marked the first day of the India v New Zealand 3-match ODI Series at Hyderabad. India chose to bat after winning the toss and scored 359 runs, losing eight wickets in 50 overs. New Zealand, chasing 350, had a patchy start. However, the match was intense; the Twitterati left us splits. Here is the compilation of the best tweets and memes during the Ind v NZ 1st ODI at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
All bow to the double centurion, Gill.
Shubman Gill made a classic 208 off 149 in his superb knock against New Zealand. While he was highly appreciated for his gameplay, Twitterati took over the internet with memes surrounding Gill’s alleged link-up with Sara Tendulkar, daughter of former Indian Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. Shubman Gill is also allegedly linked up with Sara Ali Khan.
Alleged unfair dismissal of Pandya.
In the 40th over of India’s Innings, Daryl Mitchell bowled to Hardik Pandya, who the skipper tried to dab, but the ball passed by a very close distance from the stumps. The bails were dislodged, apparently due to wicketkeeper Tom Latham’s glove. However, the Indian skipper lost his wicket due to a decision by the 3rd Umpire. But, Twitterati took over the internet against the Third Umpire decision debating against the dismissal.
Ishan Kishan gives it back to Latham!
Hardik Pandya’s dismissal became quite controversial, and the 3rd Umpire’s decision did not convince the Indian side of the decision. Thus, while Tom Latham was on strike during New Zealand’s innings, Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan dislodged the bails from his gloves and called for the wicket, and Latham was not out. Even then, Ishan was not stopped by the Indian skipper, and all the players were smiling, and Ishan wanted Latham to have a taste of his own medicine.
Mohammad Siraj & Kuldeep Yadav Supremacy!
Siraj took four wickets, and Yadav took two wickets during the match, and the internet is nothing but all praises for them right now.
