On Tuesday (April 18), Mumbai Indians’ left-arm pacer Arjun Tendulkar successfully maintained his composure under pressure and played a crucial role in securing Mumbai Indians’ (MI) victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In the last over, with only 20 runs to defend, Tendulkar was exceptionally accurate with his delivery, executing his yorkers with near-perfection and conceding only 5 runs. His opponents, Abdul Samad and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, struggled to make contact with the ball, and Tendulkar even managed to claim his first IPL wicket when he dismissed Kumar.
Fans on Twitter were overjoyed to see Arjun Tendulkar perform so well in the final over, and many even congratulated his father, the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, for his son’s performance under pressure. Here are some of the reactions:
Arjun Tendulkar, Riley Meredith, and Cameron Green Executed Yorkers Perfectly
During the powerplay, MI managed to dismiss Harry Brook and Rahul Tripathi, giving them a great start. Despite Aiden Markram’s threatening performance, MI kept taking wickets at regular intervals.
In Piyush Chawla’s final over, Heinrich Klaasen scored 20 runs in four balls, but then he attempted one too many shots and was dismissed on the last ball of the over. Rohit Sharma could not reintroduce Hrithik Shokeen back into the attack due to the high number of right-handers.
Rohit had to rely on Cameron Green, Arjun Tendulkar, and Riley Meredith at the death, and although they lacked experience, they executed the plan of bowling yorkers. With the field set accordingly, each bowler did their job, and SRH did not get many freebies.
By bowling out SRH for 178, MI secured a victory that will boost their confidence, especially as it came in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer.
