Tushar Deshpande broke through Punjab Kings (PBKS) batsmen’ defenses to secure early breakthroughs for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 53 of the IPL 2024 on Sunday.
Tushar Deshpande clean bowled Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw with his express speed, accurate line, and length. Defending a modest goal of 168, CSK needed wickets early on to put PBKS under strain.
Certainly, the Mumbai-born bowler extracted pace from the pitch and removed Bairstow (7), who also scored a boundary in the same over. A few balls later, Tushar Deshpande used his speed to dismiss Rossouw for a duck.

It is important mentioning that Jonny Bairstow and Rilee Rossouw were outstanding for Punjab in their last game against CSK on May 1. They each struck 40 or more runs to enable the squad win a clinical six-wicket victory while chasing 163.
At the time of writing, Deshpande has given 28 runs in three overs, with Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh both scoring boundaries. PBKS is at 47/2 after the powerplay overs.
Tushar Deshpande’s CSK posted 167 in the first half
Batting first, Chennai’s franchise lost Ajinka Rahane (9) early. Ruturaj Gaikwad (30) and Daryl Mitchell (32) continued their outstanding form, making significant contributions.
Although Moeen Ali could only score 17 off 20, Ravindra Jadeja’s knock of 43 off 26 helped CSK put up a decent total. Along the way, he received help from Shardul Thakur (17 off 11), and CSK tallied 167 on the board.
At that time, MS Dhoni was out for zero runs by Harshal Patel’s bowling. Patel had the best bowling figures of 3/24. He is now tied with Bumrah for most wickets in the 2024 season, with 17 each. Rahul Chahar continued his good form, taking 3/23 wickets. He was the best bowler for the home team.
