After getting rid of Andre Russell, Chennai Super Kings speedster Tushar Deshpande busted out DJ Bravo’s dance moves. This occurred during the opening innings of Monday’s IPL 2024 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders.

It was the 19th over and KKR were batting. Russell and Shreyas Iyer were together, frantically hunting for quick runs to push their total beyond 150 at that stage.

Andre Russell attempted to strike a six in the long-on zone with the second ball of the over. He failed to make the intended connection, and the ball flew to CSK defender Daryl Mitchell, who caught it.

Tushar Deshpande was seen doing a particular celebration after completing the catch, which mirrored CSK’s current bowling coach Bravo’s hallmark dance during his playing days with the side.

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and decided to bowl first on Monday. KKR batsmen struggled on a slow-turning pitch, scoring just 137/9 in 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja (3/18), Tushar Deshpande (3/33) and Mustafizur Rahman (2/22) bowled outstanding spells that continually challenged the Kolkata hitters.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (67*) then anchored the chase wonderfully with a half-century, helping CSK achieve the mark in 17.4 overs. Daryl Mitchell (25) and Shivam Dube (28) provided batting assistance as CSK cruised to a seven-wicket win. KKR captain Shreyas Iyer lamented on the loss after the game, saying:

“I personally feel, we didn’t assess it well, phenomenal start but couldn’t capitalise and lost the way in the end, it wasn’t easy scoring runs on this wicket. They know the conditions pretty well, bowled according to the plan, it was a bit tacky, it wasn’t easy for the batters to go from ball one.

Shreyas Iyer added:

“It changed tremendously after powerplay, but our plans couldn’t go according to it. The wicket changed after powerplay, from the start we got, we thought 160 or 170 would’ve been good and even when they played against RCB, it was similar conditions but when you lose your way, it’s difficult to come back.”
