Devdutt Padikkal made a dreadful start for Lucknow Super Giants against his former team, Rajasthan Royals, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday (March 24). The 23-year-old dropped Dhruv Jurel and then went for a three-ball duck.

The dismissal occurred in the third over of Lucknow’s run chase. Trent Boult delivered a length ball that slipped and struck the middle stump. Padikkal attempted the pull shot but missed it completely.

That wicket came after Boult delivered a perfume ball (sharp bouncer) that struck Padikkal on the head, sending the neck guard flying. Before he began his innings, the physio checked him for concussion symptoms. While the lefty attempted to recover from the blow, Trent Boult utilized his keen wits to outwit the batter.
