The Delhi Capitals (DC), who have won four of their past five matches, will face the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chepauk on Wednesday, May 10. Chennai has yet to break away from the group in the middle of the standings, but a win against the Capitals here will help them clear the way for the playoffs.

DC has not had much success in Chennai over the years, and their work will be cut out even in this match. The Capitals have chosen an overseas-heavy batting order and Indian spinners to get the job done.

As their strategy worked nicely Axar Patel has done an excellent job with the ball today conceding only 27 runs off 4 overs with 2 big wickets of CSK’s opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway.

Here are the top three performances by Delhi Capitals bowlers in Chennai other than Axar today

3) Pradeep Sangwan – 2/29 in 4 overs

Pradeep Sangwan was Delhi’s U-19 choice in 2008, and the left-arm spinner was a standout for the team. Sangwan bowled well in the match against the Chennai Super Kings, ending with scores of 2/29 runs.

Batting first, Delhi scored 187 runs thanks to a brilliant effort by Gautam Gambhir. Chennai responded by pacing their pursuit nicely and reaching the mark in the last over.

Sangwan, on the other hand, was effective in his spell and kept the CSK hitters honest. He took the wickets of Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan and Suresh Raina and was the most outstanding DC bowler.

2) J Suchith – 2/28 in 4 overs

When the Chennai Super Kings faced the Delhi Capitals in 2019, they were once again the superior squad. J Suchith, a talented Karnataka bowler, was a wise Capitals selection. He bowled in the powerplay and never let the CSK hitters get away. He took early wickets of Shane Watson and Suresh Raina and put the Super Kings on the back foot.

However, MS Dhoni saved the innings, as CSK finished with 179 in 20 overs. Imran Tahir seized command with the ball for the home side on a field that had slowed dramatically and picked up four wickets to ruin Delhi Capitals’ pursuit.

CSK triumphed by 80 runs after DC was knocked out for 99.

3) Nathan Coulter-Nile – 3/30 in 4 overs

CSK defeated Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) by one run in what turned out to be an incredible thriller back in 2015. Chennai batted first and batted their way to 150 in 20 overs. Because the pitch was not optimal for stroke-making, CSK finished with a par total.

In response, DC were doing well until Yuvraj Singh was sent back in the 15th over with a score of 99. CSK eventually narrowed the gap, limiting the Capitals to 149 runs and winning the match by one run.

The hero of the show for the Capitals, though, was fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile, who utilised the circumstances to great effect to finish with figures of 3/30 in his four overs.
