Indian Cricket Team is the best cricket team in the world, and a lot of the credit goes to Mahendra Singh Dhoni! Under his captaincy, India won T2O World Cup in 2007 and ICC World Cup in 2011. Dhoni has always maintained a calm face during the game and is known for being Captain Cool. Our favourite cricketer Dhoni had to see a lot of failures in his early days, and he was seen constantly struggling to make a mark in the team. Dhoni played his debut match against Bangladesh in 2004, where he could not score any runs and got out at zero. Dhoni was run out while playing with Mohammed Kaif for India, and Khaled Mashud took his wicket. However, there are a few instances where he lost his temper.
In IPL 2020 against Rajasthan Royals
The CSK Skipper could not maintain his calm during the 25th match of IPL 2020, where CSK was playing against RR. With eight runs to get off three balls, Ben Stokes bowled a full dipping toss to Mitchell Santner, and in reaction, straight umpire Ulhas Gandhe called a no-ball. However, the umpire withdrew his call once the batters picked up two runs. Ravindra Jadeja, batting with Dhoni, then got into an argument with the umpire, whom Dhoni also supported fiercely and called the decision changed.
Dhoni mad at Michael Hussey
In an ODI against Australia back in 2012, Dhoni lost his temper when Australian batter Michael Hussey was not given an out after being given out stumped off by a bowl by Suresh Raina. Dhoni was quite furious, and he started to argue with umpire Billy Bowden to get the decision changed, but the decision stood.
Dhoni was infuriated at Deepak Chahar.
In an IPL match in the 2019 season against the Kings XI Punjab, CSK pacer Deepak Chahar was forced to bear Dhoni’s rage after the previous bowled two ceaseless abdomens high no balls that offered the resistance simple chances to score.
Dhoni & Manish Pandey
It was a T20 International at Centurion where Team India had a rough start by losing 4 wickets at 90 runs. It was MS and Manish Pandey’s partnership of 80 runs that made way for the match. However, in the last over, when Dhoni was to face a ball he found Pandey distracted and looking somewhere else to which Dhoni quickly called out Manish Pandey.
Dhoni pushes Mustafizur away
A rare sight of Dhoni losing his calm was seen in an ODI match against Bangladesh where Dhoni pushed away Mustafizur Rahman to completing his run. However, Dhoni later apologized for the same but he was fined a hefty 75% of the match fee for this incident.
