Mumbai Indians player Tilak Varma made a kind act by giving away his batting gloves. He did this to two young cricket players after his team won against Punjab Kings. The match happened on April 18 in Mullanpur. Mumbai Indians defeated Punjab Kings by nine runs.
Tilak Varma played a key role by scoring 34 not out in just 18 balls. His innings had two fours and two sixes. Mumbai Indians put up a huge total of 192 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Varma’s quick runs gave Mumbai Indians a strong finish. Punjab Kings had made a comeback but Tilak Varma’s batting stopped them.
While defending the total, the MI bowlers were on fire. They reduced the home team to just 14/4 in 2 overs. However, a stunning revival almost saw PBKS pull off an amazing win. But in the end, they were bowled out for 183.
After the match, Tilak Varma took off his batting gloves. As he walked back to the dressing room, he threw them to two excited girls.
The Mumbai Indians Twitter account shared a video. The caption said:
Jasprit Bumrah was named Player of the Match following another stunning burst of bowling. The ace pacer ended with 3/21 in four overs, taking two wickets in his opening over.
Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma have once again emerged as PBKS’s heroes. While the former began their recovery with a 25-ball 41, the latter went one better, hitting 61 off 28 deliveries.
Tilak Varma has been in sparkling form in IPL 2024
Tilak Varma has been in excellent batting form this season, hitting 208 runs at an average of 41.60 with a strike rate of more than 160 in seven games.
The 21-year-old has only had a few opportunities to bat, with the MI top three in excellent form, culminating in the lone half-century. However, his cameo appearances have helped MI boost the ante in the middle overs.
Tilak’s performance stood out, yet MI collectively grappled, securing merely three victories across seven matches this season. However, the team has bounced back, emerging victorious in three of their last four clashes, scaling to secure the seventh position on the points table.
Tilak will be back in action on Monday, April 24, when MI faces table-toppers RR in Jaipur.
