Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma, Mumbai Indians (MI) teammates, recently engaged in some playful banter on Instagram. Tilak last appeared on the field for India during the T20I series against Afghanistan at home last month.
He only played the first T20I in the series, scoring 26(22) while batting at No. 3. Tilak missed the following two games as Virat Kohli returned to the playing XI and took his usual one-down slot.
An ankle injury during the South Africa tour in December last year has kept Suryakumar Yadav out of action since then. The incident occurred during the third and final T20I of the tour in Johannesburg while fielding in the second innings.
The daring middle-order batter had surgery last month and is now rehabilitating, aiming to return for IPL 2024.
Tilak Varma got to Instagram and published a training video of himself with this caption:
Suryakumar Yadav attempted to pull his MI teammate’s calf and left an unusual yet humorous remark on the photo, which read:
Tilak also swiftly responded to Surya by writing:
Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma to play under new Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya in IPL 2024
As the new season nears, Mumbai Indians (MI) made a noteworthy shift. They brought in Hardik Pandya, effectively making him Rohit Sharma’s replacement. This move drew attention as MI had experienced figures, such as Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav, who were potential options for captaincy.
However, the management brought in Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans in an all-money transaction in November and gave him the keys.
