Suryakumar Yadav, Team India’s dashing batsman, has purportedly been given the green light by NCA’s medical experts. He’s fit to join his IPL franchise for the ongoing 2024 season.
According to recent sources, Suryakumar Yadav might join the Mumbai Indians’ (MI) camp on Friday, April 5. The ace hitter was recently seen at the airport with his wife, Devisha Shetty.
He was also seen pausing to take photos with several young admirers. Suryakumar Yadav acknowledges the supporters’ desire for images and may be heard saying:
The team’s fortunes are on a downturn, with three consecutive losses. Suryakumar’s presence is a ray of hope for Mumbai. They’re rock bottom on the points table
An ankle injury occurred for Suryakumar in December 2023’s India vs. South Africa T20I series finale. Later, he underwent sports hernia surgery in January – rehabilitation followed at NCA. Suryakumar Yadav remained on the sidelines because of this incident involving both ankle and hernia problems requiring surgical intervention plus rehab at the National Cricket Academy.
Suryakumar Yadav Tops MI’s Batting Charts in Previous Season
Suryakumar Yadav is undoubtedly one of India’s top T20 batters. At 33, he led Mumbai Indians’ batting charge in IPL 2023 with remarkable stats. Amassing 605 runs across 16 matches, his average stood at an impressive 43.21. What’s truly astonishing is his strike rate – a blistering 181.13! Five half-centuries and one sensational century underlined his consistency for the five-time champions.
Suryakumar’s exploits extend beyond the IPL, shining brightly on the international T20 stage too. Currently, he occupies the coveted No. 1 position in the ICC rankings for T20I batters – a testament to his exceptional form and prowess in the shortest format.
Suryakumar’s comeback will reinforce MI’s batting lineup. Mumbai set an unimpressive 129-run total against Rajasthan Royals in their most recent IPL 2024 match, resulting in a six-wicket loss.
Hardik Pandya’s team will next face Delhi Capitals at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 7th.
MI has not won any matches so far this season. They are the lone team without any points.
