Suryakumar Yadav, Team India’s swashbuckling batter, is working hard to prepare for the forthcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), where he will continue to represent the Mumbai Indians (MI).
Suryakumar hasn’t played since injuring his ankle in South Africa. The tour last December sidelined him. Surgery on a sports hernia earlier this year was also needed. He underwent that procedure.
The 33-year-old is anticipated to make a comeback in the IPL 2024. He just shared a video on his official Instagram account, showing followers a preview of his most recent gym session.
He captioned the post:
Suryakumar Yadav mesmerized spectators with his batting prowess. However, he suffered an ankle injury during the final T20I against South Africa. In that match, he scored a remarkable 100 runs off just 56 deliveries – his fourth T20I century. His batting brilliance shone bright, yet the injury cast a shadow.
India, led by Suryakumar, tied the series 1-1. They won the final match convincingly by 106 runs. The first match was abandoned due to rain. South Africa secured a five-wicket triumph in the second contest.
Reports: Suryakumar Yadav Likely to Sit Out MI’s First Two IPL 2024 Matches
Suryakumar Yadav might miss Mumbai Indians’ opening two IPL 2024 matches. He is recovering from an injury. But a BCCI source confirmed the batsman will play this season. The prolific run-scorer could sit out the initial matches. However, he is expected to regain fitness soon and bolster MI’s batting lineup.
Providing PTI with an update on Suryakumar’s fitness, the source said:
Cricket enthusiasts in India are eagerly awaiting Suryakumar’s comeback. That’s because the 2024 T20 World Cup starts soon after IPL 2024 ends. He has shone brightly for India lately. Moreover, he tops the ICC Rankings for T20Is as the best batter.
On March 24, the Mumbai Indians will face the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2024 opening at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
