Sunil Narine, Kolkata Knight RideÂrs’ versatile all-rounder, shone with the willow against Delhi Capitals in Vizag on WedneÂsday. After a measured start, the left-handed dynamo unleasheÂd a blistering assault, plundering runs off eveÂry Delhi bowler. A particularly brutal onslaught saw him pummel Ishant Sharma for 26 runs.
Sunil Narine scoreÂd 85 runs from 39 balls. His batting strike rate was 217.95. Narine hit seÂven big sixes and seveÂn boundaries. He had a 60-run partnership with Philip Salt. TheÂn, Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi put on 104 runs together for the second wicket. This made it veÂry difficult for Delhi Capitals.
Mitchell Marsh ultimately removed the southpaw, and skipper and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant caught him behind the stumps.
Check out Sunil Narine’s innings below:
Narine playeÂd really well against Royal ChallengeÂrs Bengaluru (RCB). He hit 47 runs off 22 balls at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday. KKR won that match easily by seÂven wickets with many balls remaining.
It was also NarineÂ’s 500th T20 game. However, in KKR’s first game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), he didn’t score many runs. He was out after scoring just two runs.
At the point of writing, KKR’s scoreboard read an imposing 232/3 afteÂr 17.1 overs.
“Players have full freedom to do what they want to do” – Sunil Narine
Sunil Narine recently praised KKR management for allowing their players to express themselves on the pitch. He commented in the post-match program following their game against the RCB:
It’s worth noting that Narine has been reassigned to his prior position when Gautam Gambhir joined the Kolkata-based squad as their mentor.
For those unfamiliar, KKR has won their first two games, including a four-run victory over SRH in their first encounter. They will now attempt to maintain their winning streak in the competition.
While DC lost against PBKS and RR initially, theÂy rebounded strongly. They triumpheÂd over CSK, defending champions, by 20 runs convincingly. The team displayed resilieÂnce. They faced challeÂnges early on but respondeÂd positively.
