Renowned Indian batting icon Sunil Gavaskar eagerly anticipates witnessing Virat Kohli etch his name alongside the select few overseas players who have conquered the challenge of scoring a Test century at every prestigious Australian cricket ground.
The only two overseas batters achieving this feat are Sunil Gavaskar and the former England captain Alastair Cook. As a cricketerturnedcommentator he expressed his wish to witness Kohli scoring a century at the Gabba in the upcoming BorderGavaskar Trophy Down Under to achieve this remarkable feat.

At the start of the Australia-India Summer of Cricket, Gavaskar stated:
“On an individual level, [my wish] maybe for Virat Kohli is that he becomes the third overseas player who’s scored a Test century in all the Australian venues. I think he doesn’t have one at the Gabba, so if he gets a century at The Gabba, that means he joins me and Alastair Cook.”

It is worth noting that Virat Kohli has three Test century in Adelaide, two in Perth, and one in both Sydney and Melbourne. He has a chance to join Gavaskar and Cook in the exclusive list by scoring 100 runs at the Gabba when India tours Australia later this year.
Sunil Gavaskar Criticizes Virat Kohli’s Response to Strike Rate Critics in IPL 2024

After smashing an unbeaten 70 off 44 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2024 former skipper of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Virat Kohli playfully poked fun at the commentators who had questioned his strike rate during the season.
Kohli stated that there is a significant difference between marking statements from the commentary box and being present on the field. Sunil Gavaskar was irritated by the top batsman’s comments about specialists.

Gavaskar responded to the RCB star’s comments at a post-match program on Star Sports, as follows:
“Commentators questioned only when the strike rate was 118. I’m not too sure. I don’t watch too many matches, so I don’t know what the other commentators have said otherwise. But if you have a strike of 118 and then you get out in the 14th or the 15th with a strike-rate of 118, I mean, if you want applause for that, that’s a little bit different. That’s different.”

Virat Kohli was in top form throughout the IPL 2024. He won the Orange Cap, scoring 741 runs in 15 innings with a strike rate of 154.69.
