Chetan Sharma, the Chairman of selectors, is in hot water after he revealed confidential matters regarding the Indian cricket team in a TV channel sting operation. Allegations have been made that some of the country’s top players have been taking injections to play despite not being fit.
Former Indian cricketer recently revealed in an exclusive video sting operation on a news channel that India’s players take injections in order to expedite their match fitness when they are coming back from injuries. He mentioned that even if they are only around 80-85% fit, they are still willing to play despite not being cleared by the medical team.
Sharma discusses the struggles of dealing with an injured player, like Jasprit Bumrah, and how they often sneak off to get injections in order to stay fit. He also explains the differences between injections and pain killers. He explains how they take injections that don’t fall under anti-doping regulations and how the practice of taking pain killers is completely different.
In response to why the selectors are unable to identify the players who are guilty of breaking team rules, Sharma explains that it would be impossible to keep track of what each player is doing at all times. He emphasizes that the selectors also have their own lives and cannot be expected to monitor players constantly to keep track of their whereabouts.
Almost all players initially report to the NCA, however, only 0.5% of them suggest that they are doing something else, though it is unknown if this is true. There is no way to determine whether or not he is doing it. How much information can be gathered? 2500 boys are participating in the sport. He further added.
