Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH is going to the IPL 2025 with a squad strength of 20 players in which 13 are Indians and 7 are from overseas. SRH were smart enough to retain the core players that brought a lot of success in the IPL 2024 including the skipper Pat Cummins and explosive openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. The addition of Ishan Kishan will also bring some depth to their batting

They had left out Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T. Natarajan who gave them a lot of firepower in the bowling department that season. But the team brought in Mohammed Shami and Harshal Patel, both are very lethal with their seam. They also brought in some twirls into their bowling section by adding spinners in the likes of Rahul Chahar and Adam Zamba.

Retained Players (5): Nitish Reddy (6 Cr), Abhishek Sharma (14 Cr), Travis Head (14 Cr), Pat Cummins (18 Cr), Heinrich Klaasen (23 Cr).

SRH Players Bought in the IPL 2025 Auction (15): 

Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants have a big squad of 24 players. 18 of them are Indians and 6 are from other countries.

They came to the Auction by retaining the maximum possible 6 players. Their biggest retention was Nicholas Pooran to who they spent a whopping INR 21 Crore.

But this was just a start. As LSG entered the auction, they caused the biggest wave by signing Rishabh Pant for a record of 27 Crore. LSG for sure will see Pant as a captaincy option for them.

But the main strength of the team will be the Indian pace options. But lack of a mainstream spinner other than Ravi Bishnoi would be a concern for them. 

This instability follows them in batting as well. As they have a crowded middle order, they lack power up front due to the lack of natural openers and number 3. They might try Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh as the openers while Rishabh Pant might come at No. 5.
