Shresta, the sister of Mumbai and Team India batter Shreyas Iyer, sent a sweet post on social media following the under-fire cricketer’s important 95 on Day 3 of the Ranji Trophy 2024 final on Tuesday, March 12.
Shreyas Iyer faced disappointment when he got axed from India’s squad for the final three Tests versus England. Umesh Yadav dismissed him cheaply for just 7 runs in the opening innings of the 2024 Ranji Trophy final. This clash between his team and Vidarbha unfolded at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The right-handed hitter compensated for his first-innings failure with a brilliant 95 off 111 balls in the second innings, propelling Mumbai into a dominating position in the contest. Shreyas Iyer hit 10 fours and three sixes in his innings, putting up 168 runs for the fourth wicket with Musheer Khan (136).
Reacting to the batter’s outstanding performance, his sister Shresta moved to Instagram and uploaded a narrative featuring photos of Shreyas’ key knocks in two Ranji Trophy finals. The first was his 117 from 142 balls in the 2015-16 season against Saurashtra in Pune. The second came against Vidarbha on Day 3 of the current Ranji Trophy final.
Shresta captioned the Instagram story with a nazar amulet and a crimson heart emoji.
Shreyas Iyer was named Player of the Match for his hundred against Saurashtra in the 2015/16 Ranji Trophy final, which Mumbai won by an innings and 21 runs.
Recently, the 29-year-old athlete has been in the spotlight for controversial reasons. His actions have sparked widespread criticism and debate. He was dropped from the Indian Test team after a streak of poor results. The BCCI also removed the cricketer off the new central contracts list when the Mumbai batter failed to appear for his side in the Ranji Trophy 2024 quarterfinals, despite clear orders from the Indian cricket body.

Following their elimination, several expressed concern about the duo’s future. Team India’s head coach affirmed players remained contenders. At a news conference during India-England series, he resolutely stated their continued consideration.
While Shreyas appeared in the first two Tests of the England series, Ishan Kishan final appearance for India was a T20I against Australia in November 2023.
