Shreyas Iyer named in Mumbai’s 16-member Ranji Trophy squad for semifinal vs Tamil Nadu from March 2-6 at BKC Ground in Mumbai.
Shreyas, who was dismissed from the Indian side for the past three Tests against England, did not play in the quarterfinals against Baroda due to contradictory reports regarding his condition.
Nitin Patel, head of the NCA, told the MCA that “Shreyas Iyer is fit per the Indian team’s report after the second England Test.” Reports said the batter had back pain.
According to news agency PTI, Shreyas Iyer has been picked to the Ajinkya Rahane-led Mumbai side for the Ranji Trophy 2024 quarterfinal against Tamil Nadu. The 29-year-old scored 35, 13, 27 and 29 in the first two Tests against England. He also struggled for runs in South Africa’s two-match Test series.
Meanwhile, in-form all-rounder Shivam Dube has been left out of the Mumbai team for the Ranji Trophy semifinals. He is receiving rehab at the NCA and needs three weeks to regain full fitness. As a result, if Mumbai qualify for the competition final, he will most likely be unavailable.
Dube scored 407 runs in seven innings, averaging 67.83, including two hundreds and two fifties, before being declared out.
