During a recent conversation on ‘The Ranveer Show Hindi‘, Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan discussed how former captain MS Dhoni fostered a positive atmosphere in the dressing room during his tenure as leader of the national team. He shared insights into Dhoni’s character, highlighting his tendency to only speak when necessary and his overall composed demeanor.
Dhawan said, “Dhoni bhai created a very relaxed environment within the team. He is very chilled out. He only said things that needed to be said, and his presence was quite calm.”
Shikhar Dhawan’s India debut was under the captaincy of MS Dhoni in 2010. It is noteworthy that the left-handed batsman played a crucial role in India’s triumph in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, where he emerged as the top scorer of the tournament with 363 runs in five innings.
Dhawan on MS Dhoni’s temperament: “He too is aggressive at times, but he restrains himself”
According to him, MS Dhoni, who is generally known for his composed demeanor, did exhibit instances of anger. However, Dhawan noted that even in those situations, Dhoni managed to maintain his composure as he understood that losing his temper could have a negative impact on the dressing room atmosphere. Dhawan expressed his admiration for Dhoni’s ability to control his emotions in such situations, and said, ”He is a very fun-loving guy. He is a very simple and down-to-earth person. He too is aggressive at times, but he restrains himself as he knows that it could spoil the environment. That’s his maturity. He has a lot of self-control.”
In the current season of the IPL, MS Dhoni is leading the Chennai Super Kings. The next match of the team is against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday, April 8.
